This subsection focuses especially on China and India, two major Asian countries with contrasting political, religious and cultural histories and contemporary types of government. But many other important countries and traditions, as well as impressive feminist campaigns, should of course be recognised. We plan to fill some of these gaps as soon as is practicable.
